Brinkley Sargent Wiginton Architects Locks-In Correctional Facility Expert, Bronze Star Medal Recipient Charles Goodman to Design Team
DALLAS — Brinkley Sargent Wiginton Architects added another layer of expertise to its correctional-focused design team with Senior Associate/Senior Project Manager Charles L. Goodman. Goodman brings 30 years of experience to oversee the firm’s design of correctional facilities. He is recognized as an expert in this area, helping develop jails, prisons, and correctional medical and mental healthcare facilities around the world that collectively house more than 25,000 beds.
“Charles adds a dimension to our team that I’m truly excited about,” said Hal Sargent, President and CEO for Brinkley Sargent Wiginton Architects. “Our design team for public work – specifically in the justice and detention areas – is truly unmatched. And our bench just got deeper with Charles in the mix.”
The Wisconsin-native has worked in Indiana, Florida and Texas, and is a retired lieutenant colonel officer from the U.S. Army Reserve. He served as a Corps of Engineers platoon leader, operations officer, company commander and facility engineering team leader over a span of 32 years.
Goodman was awarded the Bronze Star Medal after he served a tour of duty in Uzbekistan and Afghanistan where he was master planner of the Karshi-Khanabad (K2) Airbase in Uzbekistan and the humanitarian medical base in Masri-e Sharif, Afghanistan. The master plan encompassed construction projects over five years, billets for more than 5,000 service members, operational buildings, support facilities, airfield improvements, aircraft parking and a taxiway expansion.
Other high-profile projects in which Goodman was involved include the Kuwait Correctional Facilities Complex, the Volusia County (Fla.) Consolidated Dispatch & Emergency Operations Center, the North Carolina Regional Medical Center & Mental Health Center, the Graceville (Fla.) Correctional Facility and the El Paso County (Texas) Jail Annex Addition.
